‘Strawberry’ Full Moon

We’re no strangers to the number of emotional, political and spiritual upheavals that 2020 has brought. And, like everyone else, if you’re hoping to find beauty in this chaos, best believe the universe will deliver! A fascinating celestial phenomenon, called the Strawberry Moon Eclipse, is headed our way. This event marks the second (of four) Lunar eclipse of the year.

The full moon is one of the more spectacular lunar phases since the entire face of the moon lights up. From 11 pm on the 5th of June to 3 am on the 6th, the moon will reflect the colour of a strawberry! A penumbral lunar eclipse, such as this one, happens when a diffused shadow of the Earth falls on the moon, giving it a reddish-crimson tinge.

While the name assigned to this full moon phenomenon by Early Native Americans may be ancient, the effect of this lunar phase still prevails.

Why the Full Moon Impacts our Emotions

The effect of the moon’s energy is similar on both- the rhythm of tides and the cycle of human emotions. The full moon is said to control our deepest, emotional selves.

For the more spiritually inclined, the moon signifies our inner world- deep thinking, our conscious and subconscious, our relationships, and self-worth. Given that the moon is a feminine planet, our intuition and psyche (our ‘feminine’ aspects) heighten and lower with the different stages of the moon. So, when the moon is at its fullest, the energy it emits affects us profoundly.

While there may not always be a direct correlation between change in behaviour and a full moon, it’s a good idea to be mindful of our actions and thoughts. By learning to tap into the vibrations of a full moon and harnessing its power, you can navigate any emotion that surfaces.
